An Approach

This project started with a simple question:

What happens if you approach the construction of a snare drum like a mechanical system?

Instead of shell plus hardware, An Approach is built as an integrated structure where all functional elements work together as one.

It may look unusual at first, but in use it behaves like a familiar instrument, just built on a different idea with a unique range of versatility. Every part is machined and serves a clear purpose. No unnecessary components, no compromises in structure.

Developed over more than two years and several hundred hours of engineering, machining and refinement, "An Approach" explores a fundamentally different way of building a snare drum.

Instead of combining a shell with externally mounted hardware, the instrument is built as an integrated mechanical system where shell, hoops and hardware interfaces become part of one unified structure. (find out more)

Additional Options

Option 1: Custom Anodizing

All structural components of this instrument are machined from the same aluminium alloy and can therefore be anodized as part of the manufacturing process.

In its standard configuration, the snare drum features a black and natural (silver) anodized finish as shown above.

If you want to create a more individual look, I offer a range of custom anodized color options including natural (silver), black, purple, gold, green, blue and red. Combinations of these colors across different components are possible and allow for a wide variety of unique configurations.

If you are interested in a custom configuration, please select this option. After your order, I will get back to you to go through the available options and discuss a suitable color combination.

Please note that anodizing is a chemical surface treatment and not a paint process. RAL colors are not possible, and the selection is limited to the typical anodizing color range.

The additional cost for custom anodizing is €360, which covers the external processing at the anodizing facility.

More complex combinations may be possible depending on the number of individually treated parts and can involve additional cost.

Option 2: Laser Engraving

This option allows you to add a custom engraving to the strainer plate (snare wire throw-off).

The surface of this component is well suited for logos, lettering or simple graphic designs and can be used to personalize the instrument.

If you are interested, please add this option to your cart. After your order, I will get back to you to discuss your design and go through all possibilities.

The listed price covers the setup of the engraving process as well as the engraving itself.

Please note that the final result depends on the design and the limitations of the engraving process. Clean, high-contrast pictures of vector files usually provide the best outcome.
